NPD & Technical Manager - Chinese Speaking - Poultry Products

Our client is a leading international company in the food industry, specializing in the development and distribution of high-quality food products such as poultry, meats, dairy, fruits and vegetables, and more. Founded over 50 years ago, the company currently has opened over 20 offices operating in 21 countries. With a commitment to innovation and sustainability, our client employs a dedicated team of professionals to work closely with their suppliers and partners to ensure the highest standards of quality and compliance. Currently, they are seeking an experienced, Chinese-speaking NPD & Technical Manager to lead the product development processes and provide regional technical and administrative support to the organization and their customers. 

The NPD & Technical Manager will oversee new product innovation and ensure full technical, regulatory, and quality compliance for food products manufactured and sourced from China. This position will serve as the key link between Chinese suppliers, the Thailand team, and the UK head office. This will involve the following key responsibilities:

• Take ownership of new product developments from initial concept through factory trials, specification finalization, and commercial launch.
• Oversee on-site production trials, manage product sampling, analyze trial results, and secure formal approvals.
• Liaise closely with manufacturers to ensure product specifications meet agreed concepts and confirm sample approval prior to shipment.
• Adjust and refine formulations or specifications to align with UK and international customer expectations.
• Ensure all products meet applicable food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements in the intended markets.
• Assess and authorize technical documentation, including product specifications, ingredient formulations, labelling details, and Certificates of Analysis.
• Support suppliers in maintaining HACCP standards and robust food safety management systems.
• Participate in supplier audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively.
• Act as the primary technical contact for Chinese manufacturing partners, maintaining clear communication with factory teams and local counterparts.
• Coordinate closely with the UK head office regarding product development progress, technical sign-offs, and reporting.
• Produce detailed technical documentation and presentations in English for internal stakeholders.
• Work alongside sourcing, commercial, and logistics teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Respond to customer technical queries and contribute to continuous product enhancement initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Qualified to degree level in a related field such as Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
• Have at least 5-10 years of experience in NPD or Technical/ QA/ Product Management in food manufacturing, trading, or export industry. Prior experience in poultry products is a plus.
• Proven track record of successful product launches.
• Strong background and Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, BRC, and food safety and quality standard systems.
• Excellent verbal and written command in Chinese (HSK 4), English, and Thai language skills.
• Prior experience working with Chinese food manufacturers is a plus.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
• Independent and driven, with the ability to lead discussions with suppliers.
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Flexibility for extended travels to China is essential.
